Mavic 2 Pro 4K not work on Windows Media Player
Just got my new Mavic 2 Pro and had a quick trip around the garden with it. To get a higher quality downsampled image, I set the camera shooting resolution to 4K, but when I try to play the Mavic 2 Pro 4K video with Windows Media Player installed on my PC, but it just doesn’t work. What player do you guys use or are there any other solutions availalble?
4K video format of Mavic 2 Pro
From DJI’s official page, we can see that the Mavic 2 Pro shoots 4K (3840×2160) video with H.264 or H.265 codec wrapped in either MP4 or MOV container format.
Can Windows Media Player handle Mavic 2 Pro 4K?
Obviously, Windows Media Player doesn’t support 4K video playback even if your computer processor and graphic card supports 4K video playback. To play 4K video, you will need another 4K video player software such as VLC Player, 5K Player, Media Player Classic and K-Lite Codec Pack, KMPlayer, Divx Player, etc.
Convert Mavic 2 Pro 4K for WMP playback
For those people who insist on viewing Mavic 2 Pro 4K with Windows Media Player, then you will need to compress 4K to 1080p. In addition, from Windows Media Player supported file formats, we can see that it lacks the ability to handle both the H.264 and H.265 codec shot with Mavic 2 Pro 4K video. Therefore, to watch Mavic 2 Pro 4K video on Windows Media Player, you still need to perform a codec transcoding process.
